Hello and welcome to my digital portfolio! My name is Alexis Funderlich, I am a current sophomore studying History and Secondary Education. My passion for history began when I was a young child. I would sit in the family room with my mother watching historical documentaries about various subjects. Some of my favorite historical topics include Ancient Egypt/Greece/Rome, and the Biblical Era of the Middle East. Two major exhibits that I was blessed enough to have attended with my parents that have ignited my passion even more include: Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs at the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia, and The Mysterious Bog People at the Carnegie Museum of Natural Science.
I may hold my passion for history in high standards, but my passion for being a resource to teach students means even more to me. In my free time over the summer and throughout breaks I coach a swim team, instruct swim lessons, life guard, volunteer at my church, and babysit for various families.
The main take away from this website is that the viewers should understand that the Danielson Framework for teaching is complex and takes many many years to master even with a Growth Mindset and that leading children to success and a main goal of education is to make children into life long learners, not for our sake, but to feed their own curiosity. Thus, the main goal of my Digital Portfolio is to give educators the tools that they need to help students achieve their goals to succeed.
