Component 2B teaches educators that not only does the teacher create the learning space, but the students do as well. If approached in the correct manner, this can create students who appreciate learning outside of the classroom, even after they graduate. This component is vital because the culture that the educator creates sets the standards for the students' future learning experience. This standard is aimed to create leaders that pour themselves into their work.
The three important elements of Component 2B are as follows: 1. importance of content and of learning, 2. expectations for learning and achievement, 3. student pride in work. Some artifacts to show competency in this component include evidence, such as an excel spreadsheet, tracking of the students' attitudes, critical thinking is actively used in the classroom, a creative presentation of lessons that would usually not intrest a group of the students (such as Canva, see my overview of Canva here), and evidence that the educator shows their expectations of how the attitude of the classroom should be and how to achieve this.
