Domain One of the Danielson Model is incredibly vital to all educators, no matter their age of focus or their subject matter. Domain One strives to teach every one that the planning and preparation are the backbones of educators and their curriculum. Planning and Preparation are important to educators and students because it gives the student their best chance at having an optimum education and teachers can not only incorporate ideals that are vital to their classroom, but also can be carried out throughout the students lives and create a life long learner with an undying curiosity.
There are six components of this model. Component One A focuses on the material that the educators are teaching. This element is important because in this early stage the educator can catch any misinformation that the students have been fed, for further reference please see my Wizer example here. Component One B is all about getting to know your students. This element may be the most important! Through getting to know those in the classroom educators will be able to have the students reach a deeper level of understanding. "Students will not care how much you know until the know how much you care." (Dr. Chapman, Grove City College) I believe that we can all agree that this statement rings true for all of our educations. The next component, Component One C, focuses more on the standards and objectives that educators are to have their students meet than the actual students. With the use of websites such as pdsas, educators can show competency in their lessons by citing the standards in their lesson plans. Component D is all about the resources used in the classroom, for both educators and students. It is vital that educators are always changing up the tools they use to keep up with the available technology, due to the fact that the children will be more than likely keeping up with the high tech tools. In my opinion, it is important to, as well as using new tools, to give the students options of resources, for an artifact example, please see my Google Doc here. The next component, Component E, focuses on creating instruction that is easily understandable, but is challenging to both the educator and student. The last component, Component One F, is very student oriented. This component requires the educator to tailor lessons to fit each students' unique needs. It is only logical to assume that since each student is a unique individual that they all learn in a unique way.
