A great artifact for Component 2B, establishing a culture for learning, is the online program, Canva. Canva is, in a nutshell, an online poster board that can be used for both teachers and students to create eye catching and memorable presentations. This website is all about being creative! The user can chose from a variety of colors, layouts, free and purchasable stickers, and fonts to express their passion for the topic. That aspect alone was definitely my favorite part about Canva. I believe if presentations were always as intriguing as Canvas are that all students will be able to find at least one part of the presentation that interested them.
To utilize Canva a free account is necessary. After creating an account, the user will be able to create or use a premade Canva backdrop, provided by the website. Once a templet has been chosen the user will be able to add titles, headings, textboxes, upload pictures, view free images or shapes, add boarders, and so much more. All in all, Canvas is one of the easiest programs that I have used to create an online presentation. The only aspect I would have changed about Canva is that although there is a wealth of items for free, Canva has some very nice and easily wanted items that cost money.
The presentation that I created was all about the National Court. Having already created a presentation about the National Court on Piktochart, seen here, I decided to approach the topic of the National Court a little differently here. In this presentation instead of giving definitions and exacts I assisted the students to recognize the vitality of this aspect of government by seeing how their lives would be very different without it. I aimed to spark some interest, discussion, and questions by creating this presentation in this way.
The Danielson framework of teaching for Domain 2 is all about the environment of the classroom. I believe that this online presentation does exactly what Danielson believes is perfect for the classroom environment. By sparking a conversation and interest where there may be none could open students to a whole new wealth of knowledge due to their new found curiosity. Specifically within Domain 2, Component 2B fits Canva in perfectly. This openness to discussion and questions will make students feel safe to feel like they can ask questions when confused and to bring their own ideas to the table, thus creating the perfect culture for learning!
