A perfect program to encourage student participation and requires each student to chose their own answer is Poll everywhere. Poll everywhere is a website that, as the name states, has the student respond to various polls so that the educator may evaluate the students' current level of understanding.
In order to create a Poll Everywhere account the user will first go to the url: https://pollev.com/login. On this page on can create an account or login. This is seen in the first picture of the slide show. Next, the user will see the screen that is shown in the second picture. From this point of the website the user can view past creation, create more polls, or view the profile. Then, the user simply clicks "Create" orange button in the center of the screen. From here the user can chose the type of question and insert the question from there. When finished, the educator can download the program onto PowerPoint and have the students send their answers over text. To see my completed example please click here.
Poll Everywhere fits perfectly into Component 3C, engaging students in learning, in so many ways. By being an alternative way to approach the students' understanding of the topic, the students may have a higher level of interest and thus retain more information. By motivating the students this can create successful students and life long learners. This is because they enjoy what they are doing and that will encourage them to continue research and create curiosity and a higher level of thinking.
If I could change one aspect about this application, I would have preferred the "Create" button and the "Add Activity" button to have different names that better represent their functions, of creating a new poll (not publishing the poll) and adding a new part to the given question (not moving on to a new question). Overall, even if there were two cons to this website I highly enjoyed being able to download the poll immediately and seeing my creation.
