Component 1F, much like Component 1B, is much more oriented on the road to success of individual students. Component 1F is focused on the techniques used to tailor specific lessons to fit each student's unique needs in both formative and summative assignments. (A formative assessment is an ungraded assignment given to the students to evaluate their mastery learning level thus far on the given subject, some examples include an ungraded exit ticket from the day's lesson, homework, or in class worksheets; while a summative assessment is an assessment given for a grade, such as a unit test, a quiz, or any rubric based assignment.) Component 1F is vital to educators because, as educators, we must realize that all students are unique and thus, their approaches to education must be unique too.
Some elements of Component 1F consist of: planning, congruence with instructional outcomes, criteria and standards, and the designing of formative and summative assessments. Some artifacts used to show competency with Component 1F consist of the previously mentioned assignments for formative and summative assessments (feedback is a must!) , supplementary videos used to aid student learning, Active Vote results, and rubrics. The idea of a rubric cannot be stressed enough in this component.
