Component 4C builds on our basic relationships that we build from the students in Component 1B, Getting to Know Your Students. Communicating with the student's families and getting to know them also gives aid to knowing how the student's home life is. This is also a good way to let the parents know how their child is doing in school. This component is so important because it will keep the children's' first teachers involved in their education (their parents/ guardians), this will show that the educator is trying their hardest to meet all of the unique students' needs, and this shows that the teacher not only cares about the student within their classroom, but their students when they are away from the school setting.
The elements that fall under this component include the following: information about the instructional program, information about individual students, and engagement of families in the instructional program. A few examples that can be found in the classroom, made online, that will show a continuous use of Component 4C in the classroom are a digital newsletter, an anonymous "I wish my teacher/ parents knew" from the students and parents, and even a google form that the parents could fill out weekly on the changes that they would like to see and changes that they are seeing.
