The first component, 1D, is a tool for educators to assist their students in the best possible way through any resources that broadens the educators knowledge. This is vital because the world is constantly changing and evolving, thus education is too. In order to keep up with the ever changing students and times the way we teach and how we obtain the information must be ever changing as well.
This component consists of three elements: resources for students, resources for classroom use, and resources to extend content knowledge and pedagogy. The first, Resources for students, must be artifacts that provide a challenge for the students to aid in not just their learning but their mastering understanding as well. Some artifacts for this include given articles, journals, primary documents from the time period being studied, a field trip to the museum, and even summary videos for the era. The next element, resources for classroom use, includes skype sessions, guest speakers, and videos watched in class, for example. The last component, resources to extend content knowledge and pedagogy, would include items such as twitter chats (attended by the educator), a Pinterest board that assists in any aspect of behind the scenes in the classroom (ex. organization boards, classroom set up boards etc...), conferences attended, and even a group of professionals from your field that you can use for guidance and consult for advice. For a finished example please see my Google Doc Student Interest survey here.
*All of these answers are based off of the textual evidence provided in Danielson, C. (2007). Enhancing professional practice a framework for teaching (2nd ed.). Alexandria, Va.: Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
