A huge part of keeping the classroom feng shui is how the teacher manages their students' behavior, as explained in my page on Component 2D. An amazingly motivating artifact to accompany this component is ClassDojo. ClassDojo is an online tool that allows educators to separate their various classes into groups In order to work ClassDojo one simply goes to https://www.classdojo.com/ and clicks "Sign Up". Depending on your current status you may possibly see various screens, If you are an educator, please click "Teacher". Next, ClassDojo will ask you a few easy questions that should take only a minute to complete. After completing the previously mentioned, ClassDojo is all yours now! One may create their class, add their students and even edit and create new skills with matching point values, depending on the educator's preferences.
ClassDojo relates to Component 2D because when the students see the Positives and Needs Work Behaviors section of ClassDojo they can observe what is expected from them. They can also notice what is not allowed in the classroom. This also holds them accountable for receiving consequences for not meeting these standards. Having a running total such as this can also show them that they are valued and loved even when they are receiving a negative amount of points, due to an infraction of the rules.
If I could have made one change to my ClassDojo experience I think I would have liked to explore around the website more, instead of sticking to the safe side and solely stuck to editing my students'' behaviors. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed being able to track my "students'' behavior during the week and observe their improvements. Also, I was very intrigued to be able to pick up on how comfortable they are in various social situations as well. This tool is perfect for the Growth Mindset because students are always growing and continuing to improve everyday!
