Component 2D is centered around the standards that educators set in their classroom. Unlike the standards provided by the government for curriculum, these classroom standards are created by the personal preference of the teacher. The monitoring of student behavior in alignment with classroom standards is important because this allows for the classroom to run smoothly and to optimum efficiency. The part we all must work on is making sure that even when correcting a student that teachers ensure that the student does not feel like they are personally being attacked, but instead that they are still valued and still loved.
The three elements that make up Component 2D include: expectations, monitoring student behavior, and response to student misbehavior. These elements encourage us to clearly set the standards and expectations, be aware 24/7, and effectively correct misbehaving students. Some artifacts to show competency in Component 2D include: a visible list of rules in the classroom, weekly emails to parents, or even a collection of infractions noted by the teacher. To see an example of this please refer to my Class Dojo review.
