Component 1E is all about designing "coherent" instruction. In this subsection, that complements Component 1C perfectly, the Danielson Model challenges students and teachers to understand state required content at a deeper level and build upon the skills previously acquired. Component 1E is necessary because it requires educators to think deeper to make more challenging lessons in order to make students think deeper, and even aid in grouping students together to help each other; this not only aids in mastery learning, but also helps make students leaders.
The elements of Component 1E consist of learning activities, Instructional materials and resources, instructional groups, and lesson and unit structure. Some of the artifacts educators can use to show competency with component 1E include: standards that are met in the lesson, evidence of building ideas, open ended lessons, or even freedom to chose their own projects that meet the educators goal. An example of a way to give students clarity is so have a worksheet or notes that will show how the lecture aligns with the presentation.
