Component 4B focuses on the importance of, as the title insinuates, Maintaining Accurate Records. The records that this category focuses on consists of grades, attendance records, academic/ social progress, and "non-instructional" tasks. This is held in high regards because not only must teachers be prepared to present why the student received the grade that they did, but be able keep track of the students' progress through out the year.
There are three elements that make up Component 4B. These three elements are: student completion of assignments, student progress in learning, non-instructional records. Each school has various internet artifact artifacts: a database that everyone can keep track of all grades Edline, attendance books, and a file box with all the students' records in them. These records should at least be kept until the next school year starts if not until the student moves onto the next educational level, for example, keeping the records until the student gradates if you teach them in high school.
This component is closely related to Component 2C, Managing Classroom Behaviors. These two can be tied together to aid in the running of the classroom and set expectations for the children.
