Have you every found an interesting picture online and wanted to save it somewhere other than by filing up your camera roll storage? A great online program that can be downloaded as an app on the Android and iPhone is Pinterest. On this program users can save pictures onto created boards or make their own public/ private boards.
In order to create an account the new user just has to put in an email, password, and pick a few interests to appear on their feeds. For my Personal Learning Network I made four of my own boards, including one on Civics, Teaching Strategies, History, and Classroom Organization. I created these boards because I love looking at the interior designing of the classroom and seeing how it ties into the main mediums that the classroom conveys. I also chose History and Civics because my passion and interest for History and Civics.
Pinterest fits into Component 4E through fulfilling all of it's three elements: 1.Enhancement of content knowledge and pedagogical skill, 2. Receptivity to feedback from colleagues, and 3. Service to the profession. The great aspect about making a professional Pinterest with boards such as Classroom Organization, is that I can use it to assist in how I would like to design my classroom, so it would be the perfect supplement to Floorplanner.
One aspect that I would change about my experience with Pinterest is make the Pinning button applicable to both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. When I did have this button in Google Chrome, pinning went very well and smooth and was enjoyable.
