Component 3E, Demonstrating Flexibility and Responsiveness, cannot be emphasized enough on how much it can make or break a class room. This component stresses the teacher's ability to bend to the unique needs of the students individually or as a group, class to class, and year to year. This is important because since the teacher's job is to teach, they must be able to change around the material so that it can be taught to mastery learning to the students, and meet each of their individual needs.
There are three elements that are found within Component 3E. These include: lesson adjustments, response to our students, and persistence. All of these can create the culture for learning that was discussed on Component 2B. The supplementary artifacts used to show competency in this component include items such as: a space in the syllabus that states that assignments can be moved back; but not forward any dates, an anonymous form that allows students to input where they would like the teacher to get more help, especially in a flipped classroom, and also a back up lesson plan to give the students options as to where they want to focus.
